Beauty & Beast - 13 & Up

The Artist's Sole

I took a pair of plain white sneakers and tie dyed them. Before they were dry I blended some tee juice into them to give them an extra splash of color. I was going to put a design on them but couldn't decide what would look good on them I think they still look pretty cool anyways :)

Obon Festival Fish

I used a combination of traditional tie dye techniques, along with wetting the cloth, holding it in a tight bundle then squeezing the broad tip pen on the top. After the coloring was put on, I then poured water over the deeper coloring.

I drew the fish on and then set the ink. After it was set, I then added the color to the fish to prevent bleeding of the black into the lighter color of the fish.

This was created for the Japanese holiday called the Obon Festival, which is celebrated every July to honor ancestors and friends that have passed.

First I had to draw my design, then transfer it to my apron. I used both broad and fine points to color it in. Then I ironed it!
